Cattleya maxima

This botanical watercolor is of a classic orchid species, Cattleya maxima.  As with its companion piece (the previous painting of Laelia anceps) this is the natural form of the orchid which has served as the source of many varieties and hybrids, and yet is not commonly found in orchid collections.
