Welcome to the Botanical Watercolor Gallery!
Botanical
watercolors combines the skills of a botanist and the talents of an
artist. Each painting must be botanically correct with important
details, such as leaf venation carefully noted, which is where my years of
training as a botanist are useful. Yet, the artist needs to capture
the beauty and gracefulness of the flower. In many ways, botanical
watercolors are portraits, not of people, but of plants. (The general
working methods are discussed on the Watercolors
page.)
Below are a few examples of the botanical watercolor paintings,
grouped by series. To purchase, please contact
the artist. If you would like to commission a special one,
again, please contact the artist. Larger, clearer images are
available for most by clicking
on the title to go to a larger (but slower to load) image of the
portrait.
