Morel
Morel is a hand-printed original artist
print of a morel mushroom.
Notes:
Hunting
morel mushrooms can be fun and can be dangerous to the untrained. While
the morel is safe to eat, some mushrooms which look like it are poisonous.
This print however is totally safe. The morel, shown in the woods, among
ferns and leaf litter, is done in the medieval criblé style. Criblé
prints were among the first prints created on metal in the 15th century.
The printmaker used punches to indent the copper and later used engraving tools
to create lines. While this print was not done on copper, it does capture
the style quite nicely.
