Original Prints by the Artist
From the artist:
"Printmaking has allowed me to do several important
things. First, I can make multiple copies of one image. This
allows me to price each piece so more people can afford to own original
art.
"Second, the very graphic nature of prints allows me to
express some ideas which another medium such as watercolor does not.
For example, the strong graphic lines contrast with the flowing sensual
lines of a lady slipper orchid, and hence, call attention to the curves.
"And finally, prints are fun to make. Often an idea
is drastically transformed during the steps from initial drawing to final
print. The most obvious transformation is the reversal of the image,
which while it sounds fairly innocuous, can result in a new view of the
subject.
"The prints that I sell are original prints. (An
original print is a print where the artist conceives of an idea, transfers
it to a printing plate, and then prints the plate. These are not
reproductions of other paintings, but works of art in themselves.) I
do very limited editions, usually under 25, so that the buyer can be
assured of their value."
Prints can be found in the Botanical
Print Gallery and the Alpaca Art Gallery.
