Charlie and Victoria

This pencil portrait is of a young man named Charlie and his award-winning suri alpaca Victoria.

"This was a fun challenge to draw.  It was tricky to balance the near-black jacket with the pure white fleece on the alpaca.  If the jacket got too dark, the alpaca wouldn't be seen.  But if the alpaca got too dark then it wouldn't look like a white alpaca.  After a lot of adjusting and standing back to look at it, I finally got what I considered a nice balance between the two figures."
