Illustration Friday

Illustration Friday is a project where illustrators/artists are emailed a subject on Friday and then produce an illustration of that theme.  Sometimes the themes are concrete and sometimes they are abstract.

"I only recently joined this group as I was in search of new ideas for my painting a day project.  I know artists are seen as very creative, but we sometimes get in ruts and keep doing the same thing over and over again.  I get a new theme each week, which usually isn't one I would have thought of.

"Also, it is very interesting to see how other illustrators/artists handle each theme.  While some themes to be straight forward and simple, often someone does a version which is totally out of the box."

"This week's theme was Peace which was the feeling I had in mind when I design this Christmas card for an alpaca farm.  It was done in oil pastel over ink.  Unfortunately for me, the scan doesn't capture the detail or the rich colors as well as I would like, but the printed cards did, so the client was thrilled."

"The theme was Thanksgiving which inspired me to paint this still life.  It was done in oil on gessoed matboard and has incredible textures.  It is 2.5"w x 3.5"h, the standard size for an art card."
